Buying Property: Working with Tradesmen and Agents

Welcome to my blog. My name is Darren. I own several rental properties in Western Australia. Once I had made the purchases, I discovered that several of the properties needed extensive work before I could rent them to tenants, so I had to hire construction contractors, plumbers, electricians, waste disposal experts and roofing experts to make sure the homes were in top condition. Once I had repaired the buildings, I contacted a letting agent who put them on the market for me. I learnt a lot from working with some many different businesses so I decided to start this blog to share everything I know.

Care Tips for Artificial Turf

by Louella Brewer

People who want to install turf on their lawns have two major options to choose from: natural turf and artificial turf. Artificial turf generally requires less maintenance attention compared to natural turf. Mowing, watering, aerating, and fertilising are some of the responsibilities that you will relinquish by rolling artificial turf on your lawn. But this does not mean that this type of turf requires no maintenance at all, as there are some nitty-gritties that should be done to keep the turf in good shape.

To ensure your artificial turf maintains its soft feel, continues looking great all year round, and serves you well over its entire lifespan, here are a couple of useful care tips you can follow.

Yard waste removal

Fallen leaves, flowers or twigs in your yard can make your lawn look unkempt. This is common in the dry season when most plants wither. Keep your home looking nice by regularly removing any green waste from your lawn. As this type of waste is organic, it can disintegrate and become entrenched in the turf backing (the stabilising fabrics used to keep the fibre tufts of synthetic turf secure). You can collect yard rubbish by hand or using a lawn leaf rake. Make sure to do this as regularly as you can so as to discourage the growth of moss, mould, fungi, algae, or any other bacterial micro-organisms.

Animal waste removal

When it comes to removal of pet waste, you can't use the same techniques used to remove yard waste. Pets can turn your artificial lawn into a bathroom by leaving behind excreta that may make your lawn to produce foul smells, especially during hot summer days. Aside from that, your beloved companion animals may shed fur and dander on your turf, increasing the risk of allergy attacks by asthmatic family members who like relaxing in the lawn.

To rid of any pet fur and dander, you can use a blower vacuum. As for the pet stains and odour, hose down the affected areas with cleaning products specially designed for the job. Be careful not to use substandard disinfectants that will only mask the pungent pet turf odour temporarily.

Installing an artificial turf on your lawn is a big investment: one that you expect to pay well down the road. To help make the most out of your investment, make ensure to follow the above-elaborated artificial turf care tips.
