Buying Property: Working with Tradesmen and Agents

Welcome to my blog. My name is Darren. I own several rental properties in Western Australia. Once I had made the purchases, I discovered that several of the properties needed extensive work before I could rent them to tenants, so I had to hire construction contractors, plumbers, electricians, waste disposal experts and roofing experts to make sure the homes were in top condition. Once I had repaired the buildings, I contacted a letting agent who put them on the market for me. I learnt a lot from working with some many different businesses so I decided to start this blog to share everything I know.

Tips On How To Lower Your Self Storage Rates In 2017

by Louella Brewer

Self storage units are one of the most convenient and affordable storage options for anyone looking to stash away their possessions for a while. However, if you still feel as though your self storage rates are steep, there a number of ways you can bring that cost down without ditching your favourite storage option. Below, see what these options are and how to you can seize them in the coming year.

Pay several months in advance

Self storage companies really appreciate when their clients make their work easier by paying in advance. You could pay for your unit three months, six months or even twelve months in advance. In return, most self storage companies will give you great discounts. Usually, the more months you pay in advance, the larger your discount. For example, if you pay one year in advance, you could get one or two months free.

Switch to a smaller unit if possible

Self storage units are priced according to size. An easy way to lower your self storage rates, therefore, is to switch to a smaller unit if you can. That is, if you have currently hired a unit but that unit still has lots of free space, chances are that you could fit all your stuff in a smaller unit that will cost less. This could shave a lot of money off your storage costs in the long term. And should you ever need to store more, you will simply move to a larger unit.

Go for upper-storey units

For self storage facilities with multiple floors, the uptake on upper-storey units is usually slower. Most people like ground floor units because they are quicker to get to and easier to load items in and out of. As such, most facilities will offer lower rates for upper storey units. If you take one of the top floor self storage units, therefore, you could easily cut your annual fees by a month, if not more.

Downgrade to a basic unit without added amenities

If you own a self storage unit that has fancy amenities, chances are that your rental rates will be a little steep. For example, some units come with additions such as climate control and alarm systems. As you can imagine, these units are more expensive than basic units. Unless your items are very valuable or highly sensitive to the weather, you can easily make the downgrade and enjoy much lower rates.

The above tips are guaranteed to accord you lower self storage rates. And better still, you can apply more than one of them to enjoy even better rates.
