Buying Property: Working with Tradesmen and Agents

Welcome to my blog. My name is Darren. I own several rental properties in Western Australia. Once I had made the purchases, I discovered that several of the properties needed extensive work before I could rent them to tenants, so I had to hire construction contractors, plumbers, electricians, waste disposal experts and roofing experts to make sure the homes were in top condition. Once I had repaired the buildings, I contacted a letting agent who put them on the market for me. I learnt a lot from working with some many different businesses so I decided to start this blog to share everything I know.

Line Marking Machines - Which Type To Choose?

by Louella Brewer

If you own your own business and you have the luxury of a car park for your staff, you'll want to keep the lines looking sharp and clear.  This not only keeps your premises looking smart for visitors, it also keeps parking orderly and ensures that everyone can find a space.  If you own your own line marking machine and suitable products, your caretaker or groundsmen could do this job for you quickly and easily.

Before you make your investment, it's useful to know a little about the different types of line marking machines that are available.  Read on for a quick overview.

Thermoplastic marking machines

Thermoplastic line marking machines are perfect if your car park is heavily used, where painted lines could be quickly worn away or damaged.  The machine works by melting a plastic stencil onto the car park surface.  The user simply guides the machine over the area to be marked, and the machine does the rest.  The user is never directly exposed to the heat source, and the whole process is quick and mess-free.

The lines can be driven on as soon as they are down, meaning that the car park does not need to be closed so there's no inconvenience caused to visitors or staff.  Thermoplastic lines are very long-lasting and will only need to be renewed every few years.

One drawback of thermoplastic marking machines is that they tend to be more expensive than other types of line markers.  Also, if your car park has a loose surface topping, you may find that the plastic lines don't adhere properly.

Dry line marking machines

If you want a basic and affordable line marking machine, a dry line marking machine could be what you need.  Dry line markers work by delivering a special powder via a nozzle as the machine is pushed over the surface to be marked.  The powder adheres to the surface like paint and must be allowed time to dry completely before you can drive over it.  You can use dry line markers on grass too, which may be useful if you need to create an overflow car park for a specific event.

Using a dry line marker takes practice to keep the lines straight, and it's best to use string as a guideline when marking out your car park for the first time.  You'll need to go over the lines fairly regularly in order to keep them looking smart, as the paint does tend to wear away quite quickly.

Spray jet marking machines

Spray jet marking machines are ideal for marking out lines on car parks with a loose surface topping, and they can also be used on grass.  The machine works by spraying lining paint over the surface as the machine is moved across it.  Spray jet line marking machines are easy to operate, and keeping the lines straight is not usually a problem, even for novice operators.

In conclusion

Purchasing a line marking machine for your business could be a worthwhile investment if you have a car park facility to maintain.  Have a chat with your local line marking machine supplier for more information and to arrange a trial of each type of machine.
